The Grammar School

An independent school in Putney, Vermont, The Grammar School (TGS) educates preschool through eighth grade students in a warm, close-knit community. Kindness, play, connection with nature, growth mindset, and creativity are infused in all of the school’s classrooms, programs, and activities. TGS offers an interdisciplinary, holistic, and experiential education that nurtures a child’s innate curiosity. Students experience a rich curriculum that integrates art, theater, music, Spanish, and social-emotional learning alongside core academics. Lasting connections are made through traditions like the cross-grade buddy program, the Medieval Faire, and the Eighth Grade Capstone Trip. Drawing students from 25 towns across Vermont, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts, The Grammar School educates children to become confident, compassionate contributors to a just and connected world.

The Head of School serves as the school’s chief executive. Their responsibilities encompass both strategic and operational responsibilities to ensure the institutional health of the school. They lead through collaboration and relationship, which extends to the administrative team and faculty as well as the dedicated parent community.
