Imagine leading a small, but thriving school where children are empowered to be out-of-the-box thinkers through experiential theme-based education. Odyssey Day School is a 30-year-old, fully accredited independent school located in Wakefield, MA, just outside of Boston. Odyssey serves a total of 120 students from infants through Grade 8, and it is a school that strives to break the traditional mold. At Odyssey, students' natural curiosity and enthusiasm are nurtured to develop critical thinking skills that serve them for the rest of their lives. In an intentionally small school, children feel accepted, connected, and loved; they gain the confidence to take intellectual risks and to become empathetic and imaginative learners.
Odyssey Day School is seeking a new head of school for July 2025. Current Head, Margaret Douglas, has announced her intention to retire after 30 years of service at the end of June 2025. The next head of school will have an opportunity to increase marketing efforts, build enrollment, potentially secure a new facility, and move a young, dynamic school forward. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate that they possess the passion, expertise, empathy, and energy to ensure that Odyssey Day School remains a special place for many years to come. This is an outstanding leadership opportunity for an experienced early childhood/elementary educator with strong leadership skills and an entrepreneurial spirit.
