Francis W. Parker School, a leader in Progressive education in Chicago, IL, seeks an experienced, dynamic, and culturally competent leader to serve as their next Head of Intermediate and Middle Schools. The division encompasses 307 students across grades 4–8, with 115 students in the Intermediate School (grades 4–5) and 192 in the Middle School (grades 6–8). This unique configuration requires a leader who deeply understands the vast developmental differences between 9-year-olds and 14-year-olds. In addition to this understanding, the ideal candidate must also demonstrate a strong commitment to Progressive education and student-centered learning. The successful candidate will be a proven educational and academic leader who can articulate and execute a clear vision for both the Intermediate and Middle Schools while collaborating effectively with the Lower and Upper School Heads and Assistant Principal to maintain Parker’s “one school” philosophy. This leader must be highly relational, building authentic connections with direct reports, students, faculty, and families while navigating the complex dynamics of an independent school community.
