Position Summary
The Middle School Student Services Counselor will work closely with students, parents, and faculty to ensure each student's success and serves as the central point for addressing any concerns that may impact their learning experience.

Essential Functions
● Teaches in-class guidance classes in grades 6, 7, 8
● Provides individual and group counseling for grades 6, 7, 8
● Attends grade level meetings 6, 7, and 8: helps create and oversee follow-up plans
● Schedules and/or attends parent/teacher conferences involving Student Services, documents meetings, and assists with follow-up ● Assists with relevant grade-level community services projects for grades 6, 7, 8 and maintains records of all MS students’ community service hours
● Assists with organizing and attending parenting workshops
● Attends Educational Planning meetings and monitors resulting accommodations and strategies for grades 6, 7, 8
● Attends Middle School Faculty and Grade Level meetings
● Works closely with the Head of Middle School, Middle School Dean of Students, and Nurses
● Attends weekly Student Services meetings● Coordinates Red Ribbon Week for the Middle School
● Member of the Crisis Management Team
● Liaison to outside professionals and agencies ● Coordinates the Middle School Advisory Program
● Completes all work and assigned tasks in a timely, efficient, accurate, and organized manner
● Performs other duties as assigned ● Reports to the Middle School Head and Director of Student Services, Pre-K 3 - 8
Required Skills and Abilities:
● Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
● Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to prioritize and work independently and address several challenges simultaneously
● Possession of a pleasant and collaborative style in the workplace, including a professional attitude
● Ability to communicate effectively with all constituents in a school environment ● Well-versed in technology, various software suites, and office equipment related to the position
● Ability to maintain the confidentiality of information
Education and Experience:
● Bachelor’s Degree required
● Masters Degree preferred and 5 years of experience in a similar position
Physical and Work Requirements:
● Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
● Occasional movement about the office and lift and/or move up to 15 pounds
● Ability to work more than 8 hours a day, as well as evening and weekend hours as necessary for events and projects
● Travel required for meetings, events, professional development

The Benjamin School is an independent co-educational day school serving students from ages 3 through grade 12 in Palm Beach County. The School resides on two campuses: the 14-acre Lower and Middle School campus in North Palm Beach and the 50-acre Upper School campus in Palm Beach Gardens. Approximately 155 teachers and associates are responsible for about 1284 students. The Lower School currently serves 442 students in grades PK3 through 5; the Middle School enrolls 225 students in grades 6-8, and the Upper School has 392 students in grades 9-12. The School’s rigorous and varied program prepares its students for acceptance to 4-year colleges.
